Peter Island Resort is seeking an experienced and dynamic Event Sales Manager to join our team. This is a hands-on role ideal for a proactive professional with a strong background in event sales and planning. Experience in resort operations, including Rooms and Food & Beverage, is highly desirable and considered a strong asset.
The Event Sales Manager will be responsible for selling and servicing all meeting and event spaces, ensuring a seamless experience from the initial inquiry through post-event follow-up. This includes preparing detailed event documentation, coordinating with internal departments, and maintaining clear communication with clients to deliver exceptional, luxury-level service at every stage. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for opportunities to enhance guest experiences and maximize revenue through strategic up-selling and tailored enhancements. All duties must be performed in accordance with Peter Island Resort’s standard operating procedures and brand standards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Coordinates and communicates verbally and in writing with guests (internal and external) regarding event details. Follows up with guests post-event.
- Acts as liaison between field sales person and guest throughout the event process (pre-event, event, post-event). Makes presence known to guest at all times during this process. Is available to solve problems and/or suggest alternatives to previous arrangements.
- Oversees his/her guest experiences promptly and with the enhanced 1-degree of service.
- Proactively identifies operational challenges with their group and works with the hotel staff and guest to solve these challenges and/or develop alternative solutions.
- Leads pre-event and post-event meetings for assigned groups.
- Facilitates various meetings as necessary (BEO Review).
- Greets guests during the event phase and oversees the execution of details; working closely with Banquet Manager and other staff.
- Adheres to all standards, policies and procedures put in place by Peter Island Resort, AHC Hospitality, and ownership.
- Integrates current trends in event management and event design.
Guest Satisfaction
- Interacts with guests to obtain feedback on product quality and service levels. Effectively responds to and handles guest needs and complaints.
- Empowers employee to provide excellent guest service. Ensures employees understand expectations and parameters.
- Observes service behaviors of employees and provides feedback to individuals; continuously strives to improve service performance.
- Conducts pre and post-event meetings as required to review/communicate group needs and feedback.
- Actively solicits feedback from the hotel departments to identify areas for improvement to enhance the Event/Meeting Planner/Main Contact’s experience.
- Reviews comment cards and guest satisfaction results with employees. Participates in the development and implementation of corrective action plans.
- Emphasizes guest satisfaction during all departmental meetings and focuses on continuous improvement.
Sales and Revenue Management
- Effectively up-sells products and services throughout the event process.
- Participates in guest site inspections and assists with the sales process when necessary.
- Effectively manages guest budgets to maximize revenue and meet guest needs.
- Maintains Tripleseat, ensuring all menus and pricing are up to date.
- Accurately forecasts event revenue (catering and audio visual) for his/her group.
- Sales travel as needed per Director of Sales representing Peter Island at industry trade events.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- At least two (2) years’ experience as Sales or Event Manager/Conference Service Manager.
- 4-year degree preferred.
- 2+ years minimum in the role of Department Manager preferred.
- Previous experience in luxury hospitality.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before guests and employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
- Ability to perform addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts or percentages.
- Ability to read and manage profit and loss statements.
- Ability to project forecasts.
REASONING ABILITY
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
